Patricia Ring Obituary - After a period of declining health, Patricia "Pat" Francis Ring, who was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024. She was 86 years old and was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
Patricia Devlin was the daughter of Francis and Grace (Lee) Devlin, who both passed away before her birth on August 30, 1937. In addition to being a member of the class of 1956 at Somerville High School, Pat's life was distinguished by a profound dedication to both her community and her faith. At St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford, where she was a communicant, she taught Christian Community Development (CCD), volunteered at bingo, and served as a Eucharistic minister and lector throughout her time there.
Throughout her more than three decades of volunteer work, Pat was a member of the Walk for Hunger for an impressive twenty-five years, during which time she raised money for those who were in need. She was a frequent blood donor, and during her lifetime, she gave away more than 11 gallons of blood. She was known for her exceptionally generous nature.
Pat, even though she was a latecomer to running and a skilled bowler, was always eager to take on new challenges throughout her life. She had a profound passion for reading and was a lifelong supporter of the Boston Red Sox. As a result of her love for traveling, she frequently accompanied her devoted husband on his various journeys to cheer him on in his cycling and speed skating competitions.
Pat is traveling with her devoted husband and best friend, Richard "Dick" Ring, who passed away shortly after her on January 24, 2024. Pat is making her final journey alongside Richard "Dick" Ring. Having the knowledge that they are reunited in death, just as they were in life, is a source of great solace for their family. Dick and Pat had a love that lasted a lifetime, which included a marriage that lasted for 64 years. Together, they delighted in activities such as going to the beach, traveling, dancing, and spending time in the great outdoors.
Her cherished children, Nancy Falco and her husband Mark, Michael Ring and his wife Marsha, Kimberly Ring and Marc Turgeon, and Kenneth Ring, are the ones who will carry on after Pat's passing. Her grandchildren Cara Donnelly-Justus and her husband Charles, Amanda Falco, Aimee Falco, Julia Cochrane and her husband Kieran, Shannon Ring, Ryan Turgeon, Jack Ring, and Harry Ring all held her in high esteem as a grandmother. Additionally, she has one great-grandchild, Adeline Cochrane, who she leaves behind.
One of her surviving relatives is a sister-in-law named Catherine Devlin. Pat was a devoted aunt who encouraged the development of strong relationships with her numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she will also be leaving behind.
Her son, Timothy Ring, who passed away in 1988, as well as her brother Francis Devlin Jr., her cherished twin sister Nancy Ulrickson, and her husband Carl, all passed away before her. She is the only surviving member of her immediate family. In addition, Pat's sister-in-law Sheila Anthony and her husband Keith, as well as her brother-in-law David Ring and his wife Peggy, passed away before her.
Pat was an exceptionally courageous woman whose life served as a demonstration of their faith, love, kindness, and dedication to helping others. Over the past few years, she has struggled with a number of health issues, and her family and friends are relieved that she is finally at peace. Pat will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, and we will always hold her memory in the highest regard in our hearts.
