Curt Sweely Obituary - Curt Sweely, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away in a peaceful manner on February 17, 2024. He was 69 years old. The world has lost a remarkable soul. In spite of the difficulties that Becker muscular dystrophy presented, Curt's life served as a demonstration of tenacity, optimism, and the pursuit of one's passion. In Tioga, Pennsylvania, on December 14, 1954, Curt Sweely was born. His parents, Leigh and Patricia Sweely, were his parents.
Not only did the milestones in his life's journey reflect his achievements, but they also reflected the unyielding spirit that established him as a singular individual. Curt's academic pursuits laid the groundwork for a career in cost accounting. He first graduated from Williamson High School in 1972 and then went on to complete his studies at Corning Community College in 1974.During the year 1977, Curt tied the knot with the woman who would become the love of his life, Mary Bennitt. Together, they took the first step toward becoming parents when they welcomed their daughter, Michelle. Family was the most important thing in Curt's life, and the times he spent with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren were the ones he treasured the most. The cabin that the family owned in Blackwell turned out to be a haven for Curt, a place where he could find peace and comfort without disturbance.
For the past 28 years, Curt has been working as a cost accountant for Ingersoll Rand and Dresser Rand in Painted Post, New York. He has dedicated his life to this profession. Up until the point where he retired due to the progression of Becker muscular dystrophy, a condition that he faced with remarkable bravery, his work ethic and commitment were unwavering.
Despite the fact that the disease presented him with a number of physical challenges, Curt's enthusiasm for life was unwavering. He was a member of the Tioga Volunteer Fire Department, a volunteer firefighter, and an emergency medical technician in the past. He was also a volunteer firefighter. Curt was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He became a life member of the National Wild Turkey Federation because of his passion for them. As his mobility began to decline, he decided to pursue a career in competitive bass fishing. In 1981, he was one of the founding members of the Tioga County Bass Anglers, leaving behind a legacy. Over the course of his fishing career, Curt, along with his father and later with Mary, took part in bass tournaments in Pennsylvania and New York, where he amassed a collection of trophies that demonstrated his extraordinary fishing abilities.
