Chromecast For Dummies

This is just a beginner guide for those who are new to using Chromecast. Chromecast is a tool that enables devices to connect seamlessly with television. Google Chromecast allows Chromebooks, Linux desktops, Android devices, and Chrome web browsers to stream content to an HDTV set over a network connection. From the mobile apps on your iPad and smartphone, you can access Netflix, YouTube, Hulu+, and other similar content providers. The Chromecast app for mobile devices also lets you cast media from Netflix, YouTube, Hulu+, and other channels directly from your tablet or smartphone smartphones.

Currently in beta, Chromecast must be cast through Google Chrome if your favorite content app is not supported. This content must be cast through Google TV, which uses the original programming manufactured for Google TV in late 2010. 

How to set up Google Chromecast 

The Chromecast device broadcasts content to devices that are equipped with at least one application capable of casting. You must first connect your computer to the wireless signal the device broadcasts. The following steps below are required to set up your Chromecast device:

• Open the package and take note of all items inside.
  
  
• The package should include power adapter, power cable, HDMI extension dongle, Google Chromecast streaming device and user guide.
  
  
• Plug Chromecast into an open HDMI port on your television.
  
  
• Plug in the USB power source.
  
  
• You need to enter your Wi-Fi account information when instructed to do so on the web page.
  
  
• Restart the device, and Chromecast is ready.

 Chromecast Compatibility

Chromecast is clearly visible on iOS devices, but typically does not work well unless they are booted up with a Google Chrome install Google Chrome for Mac OS X is supported and is considered Chromecast friendly Some pixilation issues were reported from the 11-inch MacBook Air, but have since been removed.
